Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil has refused to commit to Werder Bremen until his contract gets closer to expiring.
Ozil, 21, has been linked with the likes of Arsenal after impressing following a £3.2 million move from Schalke just over two years ago but is biding his time with this summer's World Cup potentially increasing his value.
His current deal expires in the summer of 2011 and he will be able to negotiate with other parties in nine months' time.
"I just need time to think," he told Bild. "This is about the next three or four years. It's about my future.
"Aaron Hunt has only just extended his contract six months before it was due to expire so why shouldn't I do that?"
The Gelsenkirchen-born playmaker hinted that, should he opt to leave, he would like to join European champions Barcelona.
"That is my dream club and Lionel Messi plays with them," he added. "But I have a contract until 2011 and, up to now, I haven't had any thoughts about moving."
Ozil faces Messi in Germany's friendly match against Argentina on Wednesday.
