Sofiane Feghouli's first-half strike handed Valencia a 1-0 win away to Granada at Nuevo Los Carmenes which keeps them clear in third place in La Liga.

The Algerian midfielder latched onto one of many excellent final ball attempts from Jonas in the 32nd minute and wriggled free of his marker before watching his low effort squeak underneath the grasp of goalkeeper Julio Cesar for the game's only goal.

Granada spent the majority of the second half bombing forward but were unable to fashion many serious chances at goal when they got to the Valencia danger zone.

The contest was overall a scrappy one, with a grand total of 13 yellow cards being dished out and nine of those in the book belonging to the visitors.

With Malaga and Athletic Bilbao collecting three points each over the weekend and solidifying their positions in fourth and fifth respectively, the win for Unai Emery's men keeps them seven points above both in third, though they remain 14 behind reigning champions Barcelona.
