Martin O'Neill, Kenny Dalglish and Roy Hodgson are the hot favourites to take over from Rafael Benitez as manager of Liverpool.

The Spaniard agreed a severance package thought to be worth around 6 million on Thursday, with Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow working alongside club ambassador Kenny Dalglish to find a replacement.

Yet that has not stopped Dalglish from being installed as co-favourite alongside O'Neill to take the helm at Anfield.

Most bookies have the pair at around 5/2, with some making either O'Neill or Dalglish a slight favourite at 2/1, while Hodgson is a 4/1 shot with most.

Other possible candidates include Guus Hiddink - whose odds vary from 4/1 to 12/1 - and Mark Hughes at around 16/1, though one bookie ranks former Spurs striker Juergen Klinsmann a 6/1 fourth favourite just behind Hodgson.

Other names being mentioned include Birmingham boss Alex McLeish, former Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini and Bayern Munich manager Louis van Gaal.
