Innerhofer suffers knee and head injuries
Super-G world champion Christof Innerhofer of Italy has sprained his left knee in a heavy training crash.
The 26-year-old crashed in icy conditions in the Austrian resort of Stubai and hit his head hard but did not lose consciousness.
He spent the night in hospital in Bolzano and the Italian winter sports federation said scans showed cranial trauma but no further complications.
It is unclear how long he will be out of action with the first World Cup super-G of the season in Lake Louise on November 26.
Innerhofer won gold in super-G, silver in super-combined and bronze in downhill at last season's World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
