Emil-Hegle Svendsen won his second consecutive race at the season-opening World Cup event in Ostersund as Norwegian biathlon king Ole Einar Bjoerndalen sensationally fell in the closing stages of the sprint race.
Bjoerndalen looked poised for his 92nd World Cup biathlon victory only to stumble going around the final corner to finish 3.9 seconds behind his compatriot who also won the individual event on Thursday.
Svendsen missed his fourth shot in the prone but his speed around the tracks was enough for him to continue his great start to the season as he defends his World Cup title.
Martin Fourcade of France was third, 14.3 seconds back, as the podium from the 20km event was repeated.
