Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini said he will be at Eastlands next season despite failing to secure a Champions League place after the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham.
The Italian, a former boss of Italian giants Internazionale, believes he has a future at the club.
Asked whether he was confident about remaining manager, Mancini said: "Yes, I'm confident.
"I don't know but I think I stay here. Why not?
"I work here four or five months and I think when you build a house you don't start from the roof but the basement. We work very well but we are near the roof.
"When you don't finish fourth this is football but we did a good job."
Peter Crouch's reaction header in the last 10 minutes sent Harry Redknapp's Spurs four points clear of City with one game remaining.
Big-spending City can be overtaken by Aston Villa but a place in the second-string Europa League is secure.
