Milan want to sign the Argentine striker on loan until June before completing the permanent signing of the player.
Tevez is said to have agreed to a three-and-half year contract that is worth five millions euros a year which equates to around £4.3 million or £82,600-a-week which would be a big decrease from the reported £200,000-a-week he currently earns at City.
Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani said he had reached an agreement with Tevez’s agent, Kia Joorachbian and that Joorachbian is now flying to London to try and sort out a deal with City.
"I have convinced Tevez to give up a mountain of money," said Galliani.
“I spoke with Carlos and he said he wants to join AC Milan. Silvio Berlusconi allowed me to sign this player and we found an agreement with his agent. I’ve already sent an e-mail to Manchester City with our proposal.”
Galliani also said he wanted the forward to arrive as soon as possible in the January transfer window and that Antonio Cassano, out for months after heart surgery, had welcomed the possible arrival of Tevez to fill his boots while he recovers.
City boss Roberto Mancini said on Tuesday he felt Tevez must leave the club in the January transfer window, saying: "I think for us it is important to sell him. We can do this, to sell Carlos, for him and the club.
"If he has a chance to go to Italy I am happy for him."
