London 2012 - Tweddle starts strong in Berlin
Beth Tweddle can still defend both her European gymnastic titles after a solid qualifying performance in Berlin.
The double world champion overcame a tricky start on the bars and put a niggling injury aside to score well on the floor.
"To be honest making the floor final is just a bonus," said Tweddle.
"Up until this morning I was unsure whether I was even going to compete on the floor due to some niggling injuries that we have been working on controlling.
"I am happy now that I went out there and a few more days work before the final should mean I will be in better shape to compete.
"As for bars, I'm really happy to have shown everyone my new routine and to stick all my connections, theres room for improvement still and Im excited now about the final.
Elsewhere, Hannah Whelan booked her place in the beam final and will also be joined by Danusia Francis in Friday's all-around final.
"Theres improvements I can make so will be doing my best to produce an even better result in the all-around final," said Whelan.
"I am really happy to have made the final for the beam, despite a bit of a wobble and a nervy wait! Competing today I felt pretty relaxed and I think having the experience of competing in a few majors is definitely improving my performances."
