Italian sprinter Elia Viviani won the penultimate stage of the Tour of Beijing.

The Liquigas-Cannondale rider beat Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Cannondale), Juan Josè Haedo (Saxo Bank) and Denis Galimzyanov (Katusha) to the line at the end of a 185km stage from Yan Quing Chuna Square to Shunyi.

It was a seventh win of the year for the 22-year-old.

A six-man break featuring Damiano Cunego (Lampre), Tiago Machado (RadioShack), Iljo Keisse (Quick-Step), Frederik Veuchelen (Vacansoleil), Julien Bérard (AG2R) and Meiyin Wang (China) opened up an advantage of over five minutes.

But they were reeled back inside the final 10km to set up a bunch gallop for the line.

In the general classification, Tony Martin, winner of Wednesday's opening time trial, retains his 17 second lead over Britain's David Millar going into Sunday's final stage.
