Australia's Lleyton Hewitt stormed into the quarter-finals of ATP Halle with a comfortable 6-3 6-3 win over Dutchman Thiemo de Bakker.
The 2002 Wimbledon champion did not face a single break point as he wrapped up the match in just over an hour, taking a relatively tough-fought opener with a single break before finding his serving stride in the second set to close out the win.
Local favourites Andreas Beck and Nicolas Kiefer came face-to-face in front of their home crowd, with Beck taking the match after a tie-break in the deciding third set to turn out a 6-2 3-6 7-6(4) winner.
Fellow Germans Philipp Petzschner and Benjamin Becker also came through their matches, but Dominik Meffert went down to Slovak Lukas Lacko.
