Van Emden snatches Zeeland prologue
Jos Van Emden won the Tour Zeeland prologue by a wafer-thin margin to give Rabobank a winning start in the Netherlands.
Van Emden’s time of four minutes and 37 seconds was also posted by the Skil-Shimano rider Marcel Kittel, but the Dutchman was 0.76 of a second quicker.
The German himself was only a single second ahead of compatriot and team-mate Roger Kluge, who had to settle for third place.
But 26-year-old van Emden, who also won the 2010 prologue, gave the home crowd something to enjoy with another accomplished wide on the streets of Vlissingen.
The first full stage begins on Saturday, with a 192.8km ride from Middelburg to Goes.
