Jankovic knocks out Robson in Copenhagen

Britain's Laura Robson lost her first round match at the WTA Copenhagen event to Jelana Jankovic, falling to a 6-4 7-6 defeat.

Both Robson and the former world number one failed to produce much quality in a match littered with errors.

Robson hit 48 unforced errors in the contest while third seed Jankovic had 31.

Both players failed to produce as many winners with Robson hitting 32 and Jankovic just 15 despite her victory.

Jankovic will play Russia's Yulia Putintseva in the second round.

Two seeds are already in the third round with fifth seed Kaia Kanepi and sixth seed Mona Barthel winning against Timea Babos and Alberta Brianti respectively.

The top seed is hometown favourite Caroline Wozniacki who plays Pauline Parmentier in the second round on Thursday.
