No new injury worries for Lilywhites

Preston have no fresh injury worries ahead of the trip to Tranmere as they begin a sequence of three successive away games.

Full-backs David Gray and Steven Smith should return to the squad having missed out on the stalemate with Scunthorpe at the weekend. Gray was kept out by a hamstring problem, whilst Smith was hampered by a muscular problem.

However, with the North End defence looking strong of late, it is no guarantee that either will be thrown straight back into the starting line-up.

Iain Hume returns to his first club and will be hoping to keep his place after making his first two starts since October in recent weeks.

Neil Mellor is hoping to return by the end of the month from his knee problem, but this game will come too soon for him.

Craig Morgan (foot tendinitis) remains on the sidelines, while Adam Barton (broken leg) is out for the rest of the season.
