World Cup 2010 - Pitch invader tries to grab trophy

A pitch invader tried to grab the World Cup trophy just minutes before the final kicked off at Soccer City, Johannesburg.
The famous golden trophy was on display prior to the climactic match of the 2010 tournament when the fan ran on and tried to pick it up and place a miniature red hat on it.
Security stepped in to stop the trophy being grabbed with just seconds to spare, and the fan - sporting a red, two-pronged hat and wearing a dark blue t-shirt bearing the words 'Salta Salta Jimmy Jump Against racism' - was swiftly removed from the stadium.
He was carried away by seven security men just as the Dutch and Spanish teams were about to walk out for the national anthems and the start of the game.
It is not the first time Jimmy Jump - real name Jaume Marquet Cot - has targeted a major sporting event.
Previous stunts include making it on to the pitch during the Euro 2004 final between Greece and Portugal and the 2007 Rugby World Cup final between England and South Africa. He also invaded the stage during the Spanish entry at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest.
South African police spokesman Colonel Vishnu Naidoo confirmed that the man will be charged, with reports suggesting he could face a lengthy jail term.
"We take a very dim view of something like this," said Naidoo.
