Abraham wins tune-up bout
Armenian Arthur Abraham gave his adopted German home crowd something to cheer about with a second round victory over Stjepan Bozic in Mulheim.
Abraham came into the fight on the back of two disappointing losses in the Super Six tournament – including a one-sided reverse against Englishman Carl Froch – and the contest against Bozic was a chance to build confidence ahead of a semi-final clash against American Andre Ward later in the year.
Abraham stayed behind the jab in the opening round, but a freak clash in the second as Bozic tried to attack saw the Croatian land a punch on Abraham’s elbow.
Bozic, in considerable pain, was seen to by the ringside doctor, who advised the fight be stopped due to a suspected broken hand.
The 30-year-old improves his record to 32 wins and two losses, while Bozic slips to 24 wins and five defeats.
