Troicki safely through in Rotterdam

Seventh-seed Viktor Troicki is safely into the second round of the ATP Rotterdam tournament after a comfortable win over Thiemo de Bakker.

The Serbian had a tough time of things in the opening set against the home favourite, needing a tie-break to win it, but he bageled de Bakker in the second to wrap up a 7-6 (6) 6-0 victory.

Troicki will next play another Dutch wild card in the shape of Jesse Huta Galung who knocked out Ivan Ljubicic on Monday.

The tournament's top three seeds Roger Federer, Tomas Berdych and Juan Martin del Potro all open up their campaigns on Wednesday.

Also on Tuesday, Jarkko Nieminen beat Igor Sijsling 6-1 6-7(7) 7-5 and Andreas Seppi beat Rik De Voest 1-6 7-6(5) 6-2.

While in the evening session Russian pair Mikhail Youzhny and Nikolay Davydenko progressed with wins over Igor Kunitsyn and Robin Haase respectively; and Philipp Kohlschreiber upset eight seed Marcel Granollers 6-1 1-6 6-4
