Dodt posted a final round 68 for a winning total of 14-under 274.

Briton Richard Finch turned in a spectacular six-under 66 for a 275 total but was pushed to second after Dodt sank birdies on the 16th and 18th holes.

"It was a huge relief when I birdied the 18th," Dodt said after a bogey on the 11th hole had almost spoilt his chances of a first professional title.

"I can't describe the feeling that I have now," added Dodt, who started the day one shot off the pace.

"To win a professional golf tournament is absolutely huge. I've come close a few times and to actually pull it off is a dream come true."

The 24-year-old Australian, a regular on the Asian Tour, had two runner-up finishes in Australia and New Zealand last month.

"This win is going to open a few doors for me and I'm really excited. I managed to hold on to my nerves today and I got the job done," he said.

The Avantha Masters is the first event of a new joint venture between the European and Asian tours to be known as EurAsia Golf and the event is worth 250,000 euros (217,000) to the winner.

"This has been my third week in a roll and I was just hoping for a good week this week," Dodt said. "I stayed patient today and did what I had to do and I played really well."

Japan's Tetsuji Hiratsuka shared third place with Britons David Drysdale, Barry Lane and Richard Bland on 276.
