Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has signed for Turkish club Galatasaray.

Premier League - Eboue joins Galatasaray

Eboue, 28, penned a four-year contract with Gala and posed for photos in the club's shirt after a deal worth 3.5 million euros (£3.1m) was agreed between the two sides.

He will be paid 2.5m euros per year for the first two seasons and 2.2m euros a year for the next two. Eboue will also receive 10,000 euros per match.

"Arsenal have agreed terms with Turkish side Galatasaray for the transfer of Emmanuel Eboue," read a club statement.

Eboue joined Arsenal from Belgian club Beveren in January 2005 and made 214 appearances for the club, proving adept in both defence and midfield.

He was in excellent form in Arsenal's run to the Champions League final in 2006 but experienced the nadir of his Arsenal campaign when, having been brought on as a substitute himself, he was removed in a game against Wigan in December 2008 after being abused by his own supporters.

The Ivory Coast international responded well to such adversity and worked his way back into the affection of fans, but he has now been deemed expendable in a summer of change at Emirates Stadium.

Eboue joins Gael Clichy and captain Cesc Fabregas in leaving the club this summer, while Samir Nasri is also poised to depart North London.
