Rebellin takes first win since return from drugs ban
Italy's Davide Rebellin won the Three Valleys Varese race in Italy, his first victory since returning from a positive dope test at the Beijing Olympics.
Rebellin held off the challenge of fellow Italian Domenico Pozzovivo to win the Three Valleys for the second time in his career, having previously won it in 1998. France's Thibaut Pinot came home in third place.
The Three Valleys is the first of three races on consecutive days in the Lombardy region which make up the Trittico Lombardo, with the other two being the Coppa Ugo Agostoni and Coppa Bernocchi.
Rebellin, 40, won an Olympic silver medal in the road race but was stripped of it after testing positive for endurance-enhancing substance EPO, with his medal being re-allocated to Switzerland's Fabian Cancellara.
