Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal would consider coaching a national team again once his contract with the Bavarian club runs out.

Van Gaal's only stint as a national coach was between 2000-2002 when he failed to guide the Netherlands to the 2002 World Cup.

"I have won everything with my clubs. But I want to be part of a World Cup or a European championship," said the 58-year-old former Ajax Amsterdam and Barcelona coach.

"There I could achieve something only with the top nations and Germany is one of them. But it could also be England, Argentina or Spain," added van Gaal, whose contract at Bayern runs out in 2011.

He took over at Bayern before the start of the season and has steered them to the top of the Bundesliga, the German Cup semi-finals and the Champions League last eight.

Van Gaal, whose hugely talented Ajax side won the 1995 Champions League, brushed aside the fierce soccer rivalry between Germany and the Netherlands as being an obstacle in such a potential appointment.

"I do not think that is a problem. It is about quality of the coach and that is the most important thing and if Germany win the World Cup with van Gaal then everyone in Germany would be happy."

Germany coach Joachim Loew recently postponed final talks to extend his contract that runs until this year's World Cup in South Africa, which starts on June 11.
