A four-try man-of-the-match performance by Danny Tickle helped Hull to a crushing 58-10 victory over Super League new boys Widnes at the KC Stadium.
Hull's biggest win of the season reinforced their play-off credentials and sent a message to the top four they may have extra competition this year in the form of Peter Gentle's side.
Tickle also added nine conversions and Hull's further tries were scored by Willie Manu (2), Andy Lynch, Richard Whiting, Sam Moa and Tom Briscoe.
Paddy Flynn scored two tries - one converted by Gareth O'Brien - within the closing 10 minutes for the Vikings, but it was too little too late for the Dennis Betts' side.
The Vikings have now conceded 310 points already this season and with only seven games played, that is an alarming figure for the basement strugglers.
