Kamke cruises into second round
Wildcard Tobias Kamke delighted the home crowd as he eased into the second round with an emphatic 6-1 6-1 win over Spain's Pere Riba in Hamburg.
Kamke, the 2010 ATP newcomer of the year, was one of three German players to score upsets on the opening day of the tournament as compatriots Bastian Knittel and Julian Riester followed him through.
Qualifier Knittel notched his first tour-level victory of the year when he beat Ivan Dodig of Croatia 6-4 6-3, while Riester beat Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin 6-3 6-4.
Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky had an easier time of it and required just 65 minutes to see off Maximo Gonzalez 6-2 6-3.
