Boca Juniors have said they are keen to bring Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez back to his first professional club.

Tevez is the subject of disciplinary proceedings at Etihad Stadium after allegedly refusing to appear as a substitute in a Champions League game against Bayern Munich and has been told by Roberto Mancini that he will not play for City again.

Clubs as diverse as Internazionale and West Ham have been linked with the Argentina international, who has scored 44 goals in 69 league appearances for City since joining the club in the summer of 2009.

However, a return to his home country would no doubt appeal given that family issues have proved problematic during his time at City and Boca are certainly keen to explore the possibility of bringing Tevez back to La Bombonera.

Boca vice-president Jose Beraldi said: "We'll make an attempt to get Carlos Tevez. I know it will be difficult but we will try."

It is reported that Boca will attempt to arrange a loan move in January, when Tevez's position at City will be clearer following the expected conclusion of disciplinary proceedings following "alleged breaches of contract".

Tevez made his debut for Boca in 2001 and won the Copa Libertadores in 2003. The striker subsequently joined Brazilian club Corinthians in January 2005.
