Premier League - Balotelli buys motorbike, immediately banned from riding it
The club have banned him from riding the bike for insurance reasons, with the risk of sustaining an injury while using it too great.
Balotelli, 20, was reported to have had his Maserati impounded on 27 occasions since his arrival in England, and the City star had been hoping to use the bike as an alternative to get around Manchester.
But a club source speaking to the Metro said that when he asked club officials about it, he was "laughed out of the room."
"It cost him a few quid and he's bought all the added extras - expensive leathers, helmet and all the rest of it," added the source.
City's caution with Balotelli is understandable given some serious incidents involving footballers and motorbikes in the past.
Tottenham goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini was lucky to avoid a career-ending injury in 2009 after a crash on his bike, but suffered two broken wrists and a separation of his pelvic bones.
Matt Jansen of Blackburn was less fortunate, never regaining his best form after a motorbike accident in Rome which left him in a six-day coma in 2002.
