West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo has signed Lokomotiv Moscow forward Peter Odemwingie and midfielder Somen Tchoyi from Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg.

The 29-year-old Odemwingie, who has dual Nigerian and Russian citizenship and featured for the African nation at the World Cup this summer, will be drafted straight into the squad for the match against Sunderland at the Hawthorns on Saturday, so long as the club receive international clearance.

Odemwingie agreed the deal last week and was granted a work permit by the British Embassy in Moscow. The permit was granted automatically due to the player's international record.

"I'm delighted to welcome Peter to the club," said Di Matteo. "He is an exciting international, has a great CV and I'm sure seeing a player of his calibre coming into the club will give everyone a lift.

"Peter has got great pace, is two-footed, scores goals and has good experience at a very high level.

"We've brought him in as a striker but he can also play out wide, which gives me options.

"For example, when he was in France, he played very much up front on his own whereas for Nigeria he's played wide and sometimes in a central role.

"His last game was only last midweek for Nigeria and the Russian league is already underway so he should be in good shape for the challenge ahead."

Despite being born and raised up in Russia, Odemwingie chose to play for Nigeria and has 51 caps to his name, while his former clubs include La Louviere in Belgium and French side Lille.

Tchoyi's arrival after signing a two-year contract represents the end of another lengthy pursuit.

The 27-year-old Cameroon international has been on West Brom's radar for two seasons and he was finally given the green light to move to England by a review panel at the FA, who granted him a work permit on appeal.

Unlike Odemwingie, Tchoyi will not be available for Saturday's Premier League clash against Sunderland at The Hawthorns.
