Jack Ainsley has put pen-to-paper on a new 18-month contract at Ipswich.
The 21-year-old defender signed a six-month deal in the summer which was due to expire in January, but manager Paul Jewell has put his trust in the Academy graduate by handing him fresh terms until 2013.
Ainsley, who has made just two appearances this season, can now expect to go out on loan over the second half of the campaign in order to gain valuable first-team experience.
"Obviously I`m delighted to have agreed a new contract," Ainsley told Town`s official website.
"The fact it`s for 18 months, which is longer than I have signed before, is a confidence booster. The manager has shown a lot of faith in me and now I want to repay him.
"He has told me he`d like to get me out on loan in January so I can play some competitive games and then come back to the club and start pushing for a place in the summer."
