Champions League - Napoli v Chelsea: Head to head
Tue, 21 Feb 14:30:00 2012
The last time an English side failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League was during the 1995-96 season and Chelsea are only slight favourites to progress to the next round at the expense of the Serie A side.
Chelsea have impressive recent pedigree in the competition having reached the final in 2008, and under successive managers they have been a regular presence in the knockout stages ever since Roman Abramovich purchased the club in 2003.
By contrast Napoli are taking part in the competition for the first time since Diego Maradona strutted his stuff in Naples.
The Partenopei have suffered bankruptcy, controversy and relegation since their favourite son departed the club but how does their history compare with that of Chelsea?
As our infographic shows, Chelsea's success in accumulating trophies in the Abramovich era has seen them take a firm lead in terms of silverware won, while the London club's turnover is also far superior.
It is what happens on the pitch that counts though, and Tuesday's game witnesses a battle between two of Europe's deadliest strikers.
Napoli's Edinson Cavani has scored a remarkable 41 goals in 57 Serie A appearances since joining the club from Palermo in the summer of 2010, while Drogba is one of the all-time greats in the Premier League thanks to his exploits at Stamford Bridge.
But which striker is better? Our infographic suggests Drogba is the superior physical specimen, but Cavani is more of a lethal presence in the penalty area.
Have your say now in the comments section. Let us know whether you think Cavani or Drogba is the better player, and which side will emerge triumphant across the two legs.
