Cesena have sacked boss Daniele Arrigoni and replaced him with Mario Beretta as they bid to avoid the drop from Serie A.

Cesena were looking for their third coach of the season after Arrigoni replaced Marco Giampaolo in November.

Cesena lost 3-1 to Milan on Sunday and have managed to pick up one point from a possible 15.

Milan moved top of Serie A with goals from Sulley Muntari, Urby Emanuelson and Robinho secured three points for Massimilano Allegri's side at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi.

Cesena are now seven points adrift of safety.

Gigi De Canio, Giuseppe Papadopulo, Luigi Apolloni and Giancarlo Camolese were touted for the post, but Beretta is set to take his first training session today.

He was sacked by Brescia a year ago after a poor run saw them amass only six points from seven matches.

Beretta is expected to sign a deal until June.
