Five facts about Lille, who clinched their first Ligue 1 title since 1954 and a double on Saturday:

* The club was founded in 1944 when Olympique Lillois and neighbours Sporting Club Fivois merged.

* They have won six French Cups (1946, 1947, 1948, 1953, 1955, 2011) and three Ligue 1 titles (1946, 1954, 2011), becoming only the third French club to achieve the Ligue 1-Cup double more than once.

* They play their home games at Villeneuve d'Ascq's Stadium Nord after they left their Stade Grimonprez Jooris in 2004. The Stadium Nord was designed for athletics and Lille will leave it in 2012 when their brand new Grand Stade is finished. The new stadium will be a 50,000 seater.

* Under Bosnian coach Vahid Halilhodzic, who helped the club to promotion from Ligue 2 in 2000, Lille played in the Champions League for the first time in the 2001-02 season. They knocked out Parma in the third qualifying round before finishing third in the group stage behind Manchester United and Deportivo La Coruna.

* In the 2006-07 season, they went through from the group phase after finishing second behind AC Milan. They were eliminated by Manchester United (2-0 on aggregate) in the last 16, their best result in Europe's premium competition.
