Keothavong into Luxembourg semis
Anne Keothavong's run at the Luxembourg Open continued with a comfortable 6-3 6-2 victory over Bibiane Schoofs in the last eight.
The British world number 93 was a semi-finalist in Luxembourg last year and reached the same stage this year after building on a quarter-final victory over former world number one Ana Ivanovic.
Dutchwoman Schoofs, ranked 106 places below her opponent, was broken immediately, but got back on level terms wihen Keothavong threw in a poor service game.
But Keovathong rallied, and took the first set in 33 minutes courtesy of another break.
Schoofs could not compete in the second set, with the Brit breaking twice early on, and holding serve to set up a meeting with Monica Niculescu in the last four.
Niculescu enjoyed a 6-4 6-4 victory over Lucie Hradecka.
The top seed in Luxembourg was far too strong for the unseeded Czech, advancing in 77 minutes.
She will next play sixth seed Julia Goerges, who reached the semi-finals when opponent Anastasija Sevastova had to retire with the German leading 5-2 in the first set.
Goerges was a finalist in Luxembourg last year, and the pair have each won one of their two meetings on the tour this year.
