If you hadn't been a football manager, what career would you have had instead?

I would have probably been a number two, because being involved in football is always what I wanted to do, and I want to be involved in any capacity. There was nothing else for me.

What was your first car?

It was a Ford Escort - a real banger. I loved that car.

What is the greatest song ever recorded?

Ah, that's an easy one! The greatest song ever recorded was 'New York, New York'. I can't do karaoke, but if I did then that would be the song for me.

What's your TV guilty pleasure?

I watch an awful lot of CSI, so that has to go down as my TV guilty pleasure.

If somebody made a film of your life, which actor would you like to play you?

Robert Redford. I'm not saying that there are any similarities between the two of us, but he has to be the actor that I would like to play me in a film.

Have you ever been mistaken for someone else who is also famous?

No, is the simple answer. I'm quite happy about that to be fair, but there is no one that I have been mistaken for.

What's the nicest place you've ever visited?

These questions are so hard! I have been extremely fortunate to travel the globe in the name of football, there are too many of my favourite places to even begin to mention.

What was the best football stadium you ever played at?

The San Siro, without doubt. The stadium in Milan is incredible, and the atmosphere cannot be rivalled. The size and sheer magnitude of the stadium make it a quite remarkable place to play football.

If you could throw a dinner party for any three people in history, dead or alive, who would they be?

I would have to choose Margaret Thatcher, Jack Nicklaus and George Best. I can fire those three off! It would be a brilliant dinner.

What would you cook for them?

I don't cook, and I wouldn't have a clue what to do for them. I suppose I would make them some pasta, with some very good red wine compulsory.

What is your favourite sport apart from football?

Golf and tennis are my favourite sports apart from football. Golf has to be my favourite, and I love both playing and watching the sport. I'm not a Tiger Woods fan, but my favourite golfer is Graeme McDowell. He's got an awful lot of character and I do enjoy watching him play.

Crystal ball time - what do you think you will be doing in 2030?

2030? Still living, hopefully! What are we now, 2011? Goodness. I'll be about 86, so hopefully I'll still be around then. It would be marvellous to be a number two in football, but that is a lot to ask.
