London 2012 - GB claim thrilling victory
Kathryn Fudge and Holly Lam-Moores topped the scoring with four goals as Great Britain christened London 2012's Olympic handball arena with a victory.
The hosts battled from three goals down to beat African champions Angola in a close-fought match that wasn't decided until the final 30 seconds, when Britt Goodwin scored to make the score 22-20.
"It was a great performance in a great arena, so it's been a good day for us. Home advantage is always a big advantage," said coach Jesper Holmris, who side will now face Austria on Friday.
“It's the first time we played an African nation and they are African champions, so it was good for us to see we can compete against them - and there are still nine months to go before the Olympic Games."
Meanwhile, China scraped past Slovakia 26-28 in the other match in the six-team invitational tournament, part of the London Prepares Series of Olympic test events.
