Premier League - No summer exit for Barton

Joey Barton has admitted that he is likely to leave Newcastle at the end of next season, despite being linked with a number of big clubs.

Manchester United are the latest club linked with a move for the midfielder after Arsenal and Aston Villa were both reportedly showing an interest.

The 28-year old has been unable to agree a renewal on his contract at St. James' Park, after turning down a two-year extension on reduced terms.

However, despite reported interest from the Premier League champions, the one-time England international has vowed to stay with Newcastle.

The Englishman wrote on social networking site Twitter: 'Nice to be linked with some big clubs today but I honestly don't want to leave Newcastle. Thanks but no thanks. #unfinishedbusinesshere'

He later added: 'I will most likely leave Newcastle at end of season, when my contract expires and I am no longer employed. Its out of my hands #iwanttostay?'

The former Manchester City midfielder is currently on tour with the reserves in Holland after being a denied a working visa to the USA because of his previous criminal convictions.
