Premier League - Cech out for a month

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech will be out for a month after tearing a calf muscle in Wednesday night's 2-1 Champions League defeat by Internazionale.

Cech had to be substituted during the second half of the first-leg match in Milan after collapsing without making contact with any other player as he jumped to make a catch.

The Czech Republic international immediately signalled to the bench that he needed to be replaced, and he left the pitch on a stretcher.

A spokesman for Chelsea said: "Scans confirm that Petr Cech suffered a tear in a calf muscle in the Inter game. He is expected to be out for three to four weeks."

Cech was replaced by reserve keeper Hilario on the hour mark during the 2-1 defeat, and he will now feature in some key matches for the Premier League leaders as they bid for their first title in four years.

Among the matches Cech will miss will miss are Saturday's clash with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge and the return leg against Inter on March 16.
