Dani Pedrosa admitted that his crash early in Brno MotoGP qualifying probably cost him a shot at pole position.

The Honda rider was quickest in all three practice sessions in the Czech Republic but then crashed at Turn 9 early in qualifying and had to switch to his spare bike.

Pedrosa could only manage third on the grid in the end, as his championship rival Jorge Lorenzo claimed pole.

"I had a small crash at the beginning of the session. Unfortunately I couldn't use [the primary bike] anymore and I had to go for the second bike," said Pedrosa.

"Normally they are the same, but [the first bike] was much easier and [the second bike] had much more chatter, especially on the front. I don't know why. I tried to fix it, but it was impossible.

"So at the end I tried to get my best out of it, and finally on the last lap I was on the front row, which is always important."

The Spaniard is confident he will be able to resume his practice form in Sunday's grand prix.

"The bike is working well, I just hope tomorrow I can use the bike from before and do a good race," Pedrosa said.
