Burton manager Paul Peschisolido has been impressed with Derby goalkeeper Ross Atkins after confirming he wants to sign him on loan.
The England Under-19 international has been on trial during pre-season and Peschisolido is confident in the 21-year-old's ability.
Peschisolido told the Burton Mail: "I think Ross has done a great job and I think we will look to keep him for the season."
He addded: "It is difficult to say too much without having spoken to Ross or Derby County but I think he has looked sharp in training and has done well in the games as well."
Burton have two pre-season games remaining against Solihull Moors and Derby with Peschisolido hoping to use them to finalise his choices for the new campaign.
"I will have another look at trialists in one of the games but I have not set myself a deadline as such to make decisions - that will be done when I am sure on them either way," he added.
