Crewe captain David Artell hopes to secure an extended stay at Gresty Road through the haze of a promotion hangover.
Artell led Alex to a 2-0 victory over Cheltenham in Sunday's npower League Two play-off final, despite nursing a broken metatarsal.
Along with other out-of-contract members of Steve Davis squad, Artell was set for talks over his future on Monday, despite expecting celebrations to continue long into the night.
"Most of them are under contract," he said. "There's only me, Steve Phillips, Byron Moore and Belly (Lee Bell). We're in on Monday, probably with sore heads, and will get told whether we're here next season. So it's a big day for some of us.
"If they say `thanks, but no thanks' that's football. I've had a great time and skippered a side that has lifted a trophy at Wembley. If you're going to go out, it's not a bad way to go out is it?
"I hope it's not the case. I don't want to leave, but if Steve and Bakes (assistant manager Neil Baker) don't think I'm the man for the job next season then so be it. There's no hard feelings."
