Hartlepool manager Mick Wadsworth is expected to make changes for the home clash with Preston.
Pools slipped to a club record-equalling sixth straight home defeat when losing to Yeovil on Saturday and Wadsworth could be tempted to recall several players to his starting line-up.
Central defender Sam Collins is unlikely to shake off the calf strain that has kept him out of the last three matches and strikers James Brown (groin), Colin Nish and Colin Larkin (both knee) remain sidelined.
But Wadsworth has no new injury or suspension worries, with midfielder Nathan Luscombe and striker Adam Boyd pushing for places in the starting XI after stepping off the substitutes' bench at the weekend.
Goalkeeper Scott Flinders returned to the side on Saturday in place of Andy Rafferty and is expected to start again.
Pools' last home success was a 3-0 league win over Bury in mid-September.
