The 21-year-old Italian continued his outstanding form, regaining the points jersey from home rider Anuar Manan in the process.

The peloton was tightly-packed, with 104 of the 123-strong field going on to post the same time as the stage winner.

But Guardini once again shone in the final moments of the race, forcing Germany's Robert Forster and Rico Rogers of New Zealand to settle for second and third places.

Libardo Nino of Colombia retains the overall lead, holding just a two-second advantage over Yonathan Monsalve of Venezuela.
