McGregor gets Scotland call

Allan McGregor has been named in the Scotland squad for the opening World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Macedonia.

The Besiktas goalkeeper suffered a groin injury in Scotland's friendly win over Australia last month and was rated doubtful for the Hampden games on September 8 and 11.

But he is in Craig Levein's squad along with Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks and Cardiff's David Marshall.

There is no place for the in-form Celtic winger Kris Commons while Leeds striker Ross McCormack and Huddersfield forward Jordan Rhodes retain their places after scoring in the 3-1 win over Australia.

Captain Darren Fletcher is still missing as he battles to overcome a bowel condition.
