Russia's Maria Sharapova reached her first final in seven months with a 3-6 6-0 6-2 victory over Germany's Andrea Petkovic at the Sony Ericsson Open on Thursday.
After dropping the opening set to a lively Petkovic, it turned into a one-sided affair with the Russian showing the kind of form that once made her world number one, producing a full range of shots.
Petkovic, the world number 23, faded badly and was unable to produce the return she showed in victories at Key Biscayne this week over world number one Caroline Wozniacki and Serb Jelena Jankovic.
Sharapova, currently 13th in the world but now sure of a place in the top 10 next week, faced a little resistance late in the third but by then the outcome was clear as Petkovic's run of upsets came to a rather flat end.
The Russian will face the winner of Thursday's other semi-final between compatriot Vera Zvonareva and Belarussian Victoria Azarenka.
