The Republic of Ireland international becomes Celtic manager Neil Lennon's 11th signing of the summer.

The 22-year-old striker, who has won three caps for his country, was top scorer for Hibs last season with 23 goals.

With Marc-Antoine Fortune leaving Celtic for West Brom on Friday, Morten Rasmussen on loan at German club Mainz and Gary Hooper out for another month with a calf injury, Hoops boss†Neil Lennon†was keen to bolster his attacking options before the close of the transfer window and Stokes was his first option.

The 22-year-old, who has three caps for the Republic of Ireland, first made his mark in Scottish football with Falkirk during the first half of season 2006-07, when he was on loan from†Arsenal.

He had the chance to become a Celtic player in January 2007 but turned down a Parkhead move to sign for Sunderland.

The move to the Stadium of Light did not work out and the striker had further loan spells with†Sheffield United†and Crystal Palace†before making a permanent move to Hibs last year where he teamed up with former Falkirk boss John Hughes.
