Phillip Hughes took the cricketing world by storm as he made his Test debut in 2009 - a player brimming with self-confidence, yet looking awkward at the crease; a batsman with flaws but one capable of the sublime.
The fourth ball he faced as a Test batsman saw him dismissed for a duck by the uncompromising Dale Steyn. Hughes returned to the crease in the second innings to top score with a 75. His second Test saw a maiden century.
"I remember thinking that I have never felt so happy for another person before," said Nick Compton of that century when recently speaking to the Telegraph.
