Diego Poyet, the 19-year-old who joined West Ham from Charlton Athletic this summer, must have wished he had deleted his Twitter account before making the move because some old tweets have come back to haunt him.

Poyet, son of Sunderland manager Gus, poked fun at West Ham striker Andy Carroll on more than one occasion in the past and knew what was coming when he finally got to meet his new team-mate.

It appears that Carroll has forgiven Poyet, but only after some tough negotiations.

As of Wednesday afternoon the tweets were still active before Poyet finally deleted them when they were being retweeted by hundreds on the social network.

The internet is a cruel place though and fans were not about to let Poyet get off that easily, with screengrabs of the offending tweets having been gathered and stored.

Only last month Poyet also had to apologise for a two-year old tweet where he referred to West Ham as "scum."
