A kit man at League One Oldham Athletic has quit after driving a club minibus into several cars, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Mark Coombe was apparently on a trial period at the Boundary Park club, but suffered the accident while returning from the club's training ground at Hollinwood.

Two of the cars damaged belong to David Mellor and Anton Rodgers, the latter being the son of Liverpool manager Brendan.

Sources at the club - whose players are pictured above beating Liverpool in the FA Cup last season - said he was "devastated" after the incident before quitting his trial position with the League One club.

"He was distraught and walked out of the club has soon as it happened. We haven’t seen him since, and we think he is really depressed about it," read the quote.

Youth team player Will Kinder recently passed his test, and tweeted: “Trust it to be my car someone drives a minibus into."
