Overreaction Theatre: The Miracle of ‘Crystanbul’

Early Doors

Liverpool were being vaunted as the 'people's champions' just a few games ago but, judging by the prevailing mood in the twittersphere after their catastrophic 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace, not everyone shared that view.

The sensational draw at Selhurst Park not only put a serious dent in Brendan Rodgers' side's hopes of ending the club's league title drought but it also gave gloating internet humorists a glorious chance to have a dig.

It could be said that some Liverpool fans had it coming though, given some rather premature business ventures that have been on show of late.

Tony Pulis proved to be Liverpool's nemesis and like any arch-schemer worth his salt, he is capable of pulling off a supremely evil laugh.

And he may be able to do this too.

On a more serious note, over in Denmark there was no doubt about who the finger of blame should be pointed at.

Meanwhile, all the excitement apparently got to Glen Johnson, as he posted an ill-advised tweet about the performance (his? Liverpool's?) before backing it up with a jibe about armchair know-it-alls. Needless to say, he got hammered for the rush of blood to the head.

Michael Owen, who must have turned off his telly with 11 minutes to go at Selhurst Park, also appeared to suffer from something of a brain freeze with this tweet. Outstanding?

And finally, for a man doing his best to hide from the world, Luis Suarez certainly managed to feature in quite a few photos on the night. Here's one more teary pic to keep you going until next week.
