Movers and shakers: Ade gamble

During the season our regular
Wednesday feature will detail whose value is rising and falling, but prices are frozen until the big kick-off.

This week
we will comb through the summer's
transfers looking for value. Having already looked at the Premier League's new arrivals, The Fantasist will now consider
those players who have moved from one top-flight club to another.

And the bad
news is, there don't appear to be
too many bargains on offer.

Darren Bent
(FW, 9.24) - Tottenham to Sunderland **** out of
five
The
Fantasist expects big things from Bent under the guidance of Steve Bruce. Could score 15 goals and looks under-valued.

Carlos
Tevez
(FW, 9.48) - Manchester United to Manchester City ****
If he rediscovers
the zest and eye for goal of his first season at Manchester United he could be
a steal, but keep an eye on that heel injury as the season approaches.

Emmanuel
Adebayor
(pictured, FW, 12.44) - Arsenal to Manchester
City ***
This will
depend on which Adebayor turns up at Eastlands. For that money, the Fantasist
would rather have Dimitar Berbatov (12.67).

Antonio
Valencia
(MF, 11.62) - Wigan Athletic to Manchester
United ***
If you
believe he can replace Cristiano Ronaldo, snap him up before he doubles in
value. But he is already United's
most expensive midfielder and Fergie does love his squad rotation.

Glen
Johnson
(DF, 11.33) - Portsmouth to Liverpool ***
Clearly,
Johnson will do well, but he costs almost as much as his fellow full-back Fabio
Aurelio (11.67). With Aurelio injured, Emilio Insua (8.63) looks a smarter
stop-gap option.

Peter
Crouch
(FW, 9.52) - Portsmouth
to Tottenham ***
Has Jermain
Defoe and Robbie Keane for company, so faces a fight just to play. If he does
feature, he could appreciate considerably in value.

Joe Hart
(GK, 7.62) - Manchester City to Birmingham
***
At least he
will get a game. But it remains to be seen whether he can justify a mid-level
price for a goalkeeper.

Sean Davis
(MF, 6.26) - Portsmouth to Bolton
***
Not a bad
signing if you need some midfield filler, although there is not much to suggest
he will offer any more than he did at Portsmouth.

Dean
Whitehead
(MF, 6.24) - Sunderland to Stoke City
***
Pretty much
in the Sean Davis mould. OK if you fancy a dart, but unlikely to improve drastically.

Gareth
Barry
(MF, 12.48) - Aston Villa to Manchester
City **
Now looks
overpriced considering he will no longer be taking many free-kicks, corners or
penalties. There are a lot of forwards at City to share those goals and assists
around.

Stewart
Downing
(MF, 11.49) - Middlesbrough to Aston Villa
**
Will have
to share set-piece duties with Ashley Young and may have to relinquish
penalty-taking duties.

Zat Knight
(10.50) - Aston Villa to Bolton, Paul Robinson (6.40) - West Bromwich to
Bolton, and Sam Ricketts (5.84) - Hull to Bolton **
Knight is
nearly as expensive as his new team-mate Gary Cahill, while Robinson and
Ricketts look likely to be used as squad players. Ricketts is useful going
forward if he does get a run.

Kolo Toure
(10.30) - Arsenal to Manchester
City **
Until City
sign Joleon Lescott, there is no reason on earth to take Toure ahead of the
vastly cheaper Richard Dunne (7.17).

Michael
Owen
(9.33) - Newcastle United to Manchester United **
The perfect
stop-gap option when Wayne Rooney and Berbatov are injured or suspended, but
until then Owen is just a bench player.

Roque Santa Cruz (9.51) - Blackburn Rovers to Manchester City
*
£18 million
worth of benchwarmer. Goodness only knows why City bothered signing him, but
you should not make the same move unless Carlos Tevez's
injury proves significant.
