Wrigley Field: It's getting there. Almost.

The homestead of the Chicago Cubs, behind on its offseason renovations, is opening part of its bleachers on May 11, a step forward in the delayed Wrigley revival.

Here are renderings released Tuesday by the Cubs:

The club says it will open the left and centerfield bleachers when the New York Mets come to town, but we'll still need to wait another month for the right-field bleachers to open. Their current opening date is June 11, but given the delays so far, that's nowhere near a sure thing.

All of this was supposed to be done by opening day — the first part of the four-phase, $575 million Wrigley renovation. After it was clear they weren't going to get the bleachers done in time for the start of the season, the Cubs also said the entire project might take an extra year.

On the new-and-improved side of things: Patient fans will get a new view in the rebuilt bleachers. The Cubs have created the "Left Field Well" between the outfield wall and the bleachers, a new seating area described as:

The new Left Field Well features space close to the action in the first two rows above the left field wall with designated standing room and limited seating for groups of 15 to 50 fans. The Left Field Well offers guests the best view in the bleachers to catch all the action on the field and is perfect for bachelor/bachelorette parties and special events.

As you would expect, this new seating area is more expensive than standard bleacher seating, which ranges from $17-$65 depending on the game. Tickets in the new section cost $22-$85, according to the Chicago Tribune.
