Texas Tech WR Reginald Davis reportedly arrested for marijuana

Texas Tech WR Reginald Davis was reportedly arrested for suspicion of marijuana possession on Monday.

According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Davis has been released from the Lubbock County Detention Center.

LPD Lt. Ray Mendoza said Davis was pulled over for a traffic violation around noon in the 5200 block of 50th Street. Officers allegedly found less than two ounces of marijuana in Davis’ possession, Mendoza said.

The amount means that he won't likely face a harsh punishment for the alleged offense.

A team spokesperson told the Avalanche-Journal that it was looking into the situation and was in the process of gathering information about it.

Davis had 29 catches for 318 yards and five touchdowns in 2014, though his production tailed off as the season went on. He was Texas Tech's sixth-leading receiver last season and is set to be in the mix for significant playing time again in 2015.

He was a four-star recruit in the class of 2012 per Rivals. He was the No. 40 wide receiver in the country and the No. 30 recruit in the state of Texas.
