Bruce Irvin regrettable April Fools' Day joke is about getting a DUI
Most April Fools' Day jokes are about the same. Replace the sugar with salt. If you have the platform, trick fans into thinking you signed with an NFL team. Harmless stuff.
Joking about getting a DUI? Probably under the category of "Oh what in the heck are you possibly thinking?"
Seattle Seahawks outside linebacker thought it would be funny to announce on Twitter that he got a DUI. He didn't, it was just a joke. April Fools! Ugh.
Before this hits the media I just wanna apologize to my fans and the @Seahawks organization once again. I made a terrible decision b driving

After I had a few drinks. I will do everything to get ur trust back and will become a better person after this.

Irvin let that linger on Twitter for about 25 minutes before springing the joke.
How many of yall thought I was serious ?! Haha April fools!!!
— Bruce Irvin (@BIrvin_WVU11) April 1, 2015
Now, at some point it probably should have occurred to Irvin that this wasn't too funny. It might have been even more regrettable given Irvin's past. He was arrested twice before he was drafted in the first round of the 2012 draft by the Seahawks, including once for breaking into a drug dealer's house.
This was just a joke gone wrong, but it's probably not such a minor thing to any families who have been affected by an accident involving a drunk driver.
It's hard to believe Irvin meant any harm, but he heard about it.
Ok it was a joke didn't meant to disrespect anybody. Damn relax

And then Irvin apologized, kind of, and then said he was done on Twitter the rest of April 1.
I apologize to all the 12's and my wvu fam if I offended u didn't mean to at all. So yea that's pretty much all the people that matter.
— Bruce Irvin (@BIrvin_WVU11) April 1, 2015
I'm banning myself from Twitter the rest of day. U trolls have fun killing my mentions i got work to do
— Bruce Irvin (@BIrvin_WVU11) April 1, 2015
So, keep in mind to keep the April Fools' Day jokes to something petty, instead of making them about committing major crimes.
